Water aerobic classes for all ages. Improves your fitness by using the natural buoyancy and resistance of water, providing a low-impact workout that's fun and effective. Equipment is used to make classes interesting, challenging and exciting.

Land exercise vs. water exercise Did you know that it is twelve times more difficult to exercise in water than on land? That's because on land the pull of gravity comes into play whereas in water the gravitational pull on the body is reduced.

Benefits of water exercise:

  • No overheating
  • No sweating
  • Reduces feeling of exhaustion
  • Fewer aches and pains
  • Improved aerobic fitness
  • Strengthens muscles
  • Improved muscle endurance
  • Greater flexibility
  • Body composition
  • You can't work beyond your own capability
  • Less strain on weight-bearing joints and back
  • Reduces heart rate
  • Works muscles that are rarely used
  • Improves abdominal muscles
  • Improves circulation

Aerobic fitness is continuous activity, for at least 20 minutes, that increases your heart rate to 65% to 85% maximum.

Muscle strength involves weight lifting. Water acts as a natural resistant.

Muscle endurance is also known as toning which is achieved when you repeat resistant activity 15 to 30 times.

Flexibility is the ability of a joint to move through a normal range of motion. You need to stretch each muscle for 30 to 60 seconds thereby preventing injuries (or just making getting dressed a little easier!).

Body composition is the proportion of fat body mass to lean body mass. An average person burns between 450 and 700 calories while exercising for an hour. In water, 77% of the calories burned come from stored fat, helping to reduce fat mass.
